Community Arts Norristown Policies

Please read the following carefully. By registering for a class at Community Arts Norristown, you agree to comply to the following terms and conditions:

Classes not meeting minimum enrollment numbers may be cancelled in the week prior to the scheduled start date. If a class is cancelled, Community Arts Norristown will contact the student by email and they will have the option to transfer to another class, receive a full refund by check (if originally paid by cash or check), a refund to the credit card used, or receive a class credit to their account.

Withdrawals made 10 or more days before the first class: Students will receive a refund by check or credit card, or a class credit to their CAN account, less a $15.00 withdrawal fee per class. Class credits expire after one year.

Withdrawals made nine or fewer days before the first class: Students will receive a credit worth 60% of the class tuition to their CAN account. Class credits expire after one year.

Withdrawals made after the first class: No refunds or credits will be given, unless there is a demonstrated medical or family emergency in which case a prorated class credit will be issued to their CAN account.

Make Up Classes

Community Arts Norristown will do everything we can to ensure that all classes run as scheduled. However, in the event that a class cannot happen as scheduled, students will be contacted by email or text (see "Communications" below) and a date for the make up class will be announced. Make ups will ONLY be scheduled for classes cancelled by CAN.

Payment Plans

Students wishing to participate in a payment plan must pay a 40% deposit of the tuition at the time of registration. The remaining 60% will be due one week before the first class begins. Credit card information must remain on file and will be charged automatically when the balance is due. Workshops and one time classes must be paid in full at the time of registration.

Scholarships and Work/Study

Community Arts Norristown awards scholarships and work/study opportunities based on financial need in the order in which they were received, until funds are exhausted. All students must pay a minimum of $25 to cover basic class expenses. Although exhaustive financial records are not required for scholarship consideration, a failure to provide accurate or current information will be cause for revocation of all scholarship privileges. Scholarships are awarded to a specific student for a specific semester and cannot be transferred or deferred. Once the scholarship is awarded, the student must contact CAN to complete registration for the class. CAN reserves any right to cancel any class; the scholarship student will be notified and given the option to transfer to a different class. All students must follow the terms set by the Student Agreement.

CAN's primary method of communication with students will be through email. Students must ensure that the email address(es) and phone numbers (including at least one cell phone number) provided on their online account are accurate. You must select your service provider on your online account to receive texts. Please add hello@communityartsnorristown.org to your email contact list to ensure that all emails are received. Text alerts may be sent in the case of an emergency closure. CAN will follow Norristown Area School District closures. Closure alerts will also be posted on the CAN website. Individual calls will not be made.
